It was a real nail-biter: The Contrada della Selva (the “woods”) has won the August 16 Palio dell’Assunta in a true “photo finish.”

The other exciting thing about this race was that the jockey for La Selva had fallen from his horse. But the horse doesn’t need to have a rider to win.
