Palio video streaming on July 2: WATCH THE RACE LIVE!
The July 2 Palio actually begins early in the morning in Siena when each contrada (city ward) starts preparing for the race, including pre-race flag-throwing and parades in each ward, and the mounting of the jockeys etc.
The actual race begins at 7 p.m. when the Palio — an tapestry that becomes the winner’s trophy — is displayed above the Piazza del Campo where the race is run.
That’ will be 12 p.m. noon in Texas.
If you are as Palio-crazy as we are, check out the live video stream of the race at SienaTV here.
In the meantime, the stream is 100 percent Palio coverage 24/7 wall-to-wall! Even if you don’t speak Italian, it’s fun to watch because they often do “behind-the-scenes” stuff.
