An update from Chef Harvey

The Austin chapter of the International Wine and Food Society presented Stan and me with an award for best dinner of the year 2011 on June 29 last week. It was great to be recognized by such a prestigious group of gourmands who dine regularly at Austin’s finest restaurants. Our thanks go out to Bill Estes, Vince Di Loreto and the many members of International Wine and Food Society.

Here’s what they had to say about the dinner:

On June 29, we enjoyed another special dinner at Siena Ristorante Toscana. The Chapter had voted Siena our favorite event of 2011 and once again Chef Harvey Harris met our high expectations. Host Vince DiLoreto presented the award, an IW&FS Certificate of Excellence, to Siena that evening. Chef Harris studied classic Italian cuisine in the Piedmont and worked as a professional chef in Tuscany. The menu again showcased their tastes of Tuscany. Doors to our event opened at 7:00 pm with a variety of canapés and a glass of Chianti.

In other news…

Watch for our new Summer menu to be launched sometime next week. Our focus will be on the lighter side of Tuscan cooking such as Panzanella salad with lump crabmeat, sweet potato gnocchi with scallops, Strube Ranch Sirloin with baby arugula pesto and much more…

This week Thursday thru Sunday we are featuring Wild Sockeye Salmon from Alaska’s Copper River. This is hands down some of the best Salmon on the market and the season will end soon!
