Barolo at Siena (and upcoming wine dinners)

They call Barolo “the wine of kings and the king of wines.”

Together with the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy, and cult Napa Valley Cab, Barolo is one of the world’s greatest, most collected and coveted wines.

Last week, Siena hosted a special lunch for twelve local retailers and restaurateurs, where top Barolo producer Achille Baroli showcased a sampling of Baroli’s extensive Piedmont wine portfolio.

Siena currently features Baroli Langhe Rosso by the glass: a richly layered blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo, with a small amount of Merlot for just $10.50 by the glass or $42 by the bottle.

Siena also carries Baroli Dolcetto that shows a lot of easy drinking ripe forward fruit and the outstanding 2007 Baroli Villero.

Villero is one of the most famous vineyards in Barolo and the vineyard-designated Barolo Villero by Baroli is packed big powerful dense fruit and a beautiful complex nose. The wine was recently rated 93 points in Wine Spectator.
